Our biggest inspiration for organizing punk feminist events comes from our love and admiration for the Riot Grrrl movement of the early 90s.

In response to a heavily misogynistic, homophobic, and violent punk era, grrrls started to resist the "boys-only" attitude that plagued the scene by forming bands, making zines, and throwing punk shows that encouraged grrrls to show up and enjoy the bands without having to worry about any sexist jerks ruining their fun.

The Riot Grrrls created an enviroment that championed friendship and collaboration over jealousy and competition.

Understanding the pretentiousness that surrounds the ability to learn instruments and the priveliege that is associated with access to obtaining instruments, Riot Grrrl bands were open to sharing what they knew with their audience and worked with their bandmates abilities to make sure everyone's needs were met, regardless of their lack of or difference in knowledge.

Today, Purest Rev Events brings the Riot Grrrl ethos into the 21st century by calling for all girls and ghouls to have fun, safe, and accessible punk shows no matter their race, class, orientation, abilities, or knowledge of the scene/scenes. We believe in direct actions instead of wearing statement tees.
